Finding kayak seats for sit in kayaks can be a challenge. The standard solution for a sit-in kayak comes in two pieces: a back band and a seat cushion or pad to lay in the seat well or on top of your existing seat. Thus we have separate pages for Kayak Back Bands, Whitewater Back Bands, and Cushions and Pads. The Tall Back Band was long our #1 selling product (it's now #2) and by far the back band we sell most of. At 14" it is the tallest back band we offer and provides some mid back support. Most back bands are smaller and are really meant primarily for lower back support. The very basic Kayak Back Band offers a good price point and we now stock it in several colors. Designed specifically for whitewater kayaks, the three models from Immersion Research: the Reggie, Forward-Adjust Reggie and LoungeBand are the most advanced of the narrower back bands and require some doing to configure (video instructions available). When it comes to cushions & pads, the Hot Seat is unique because it comes with adhesive to allow you to affix it to your seating area, but the Classic Paddling Cushion with its patented gel technology has long been our most popular cushion for pairing with a back band.
Generally any full seat will fit easily on a sit-on-top kayak but makers of full seats generally do not support putting a full seat (one with the seat back and seat bottom integrated) in a sit-inside kayak. But if you take measurements and carefully plan, it can be done.
